Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts raises over £60,000 for Movember and Sleepsmart/Streetsmart campaigns last winter
Guests of Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts helped the contemporary hotel chain to raise a colossal £60,550 for testicular health and local charities which help the homeless under the Sleepsmart/Streetsmart initiative.
The charity scheme helps the homeless back into accommodation and work through £1 donations on guests’ room or restaurant bills which is well-received by guests, particularly in the months of November and December when it’s miserable outside.
Movember During November Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts joined in Movember by encouraging staff to sprout moustaches and join in with the global efforts of the charity. The aim is to annually raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men (www.movember.com). Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts had an initial target of £25,000 which they exceeded by more than £10,000 through generous donations and a special Movember Mojito cocktail where £4 from every tipple went to the charity.
“We continue to be elated by the willingness of guests to help out with worthy causes. With donations ranging from £1 to £2,000 – everything is gratefully received. Whether it’s a local homeless individual who needs a boost to get back into employment or funding for research to treat testicular cancer, the £60,550 we’ve raised will make a difference to so many,” said Greg Hegarty, Regional General Manager of the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
